We're inviting the Lysterfield and Rowville community to learn more about local quarries, how they operate and the regulatory controls in place. In response to interest in the activities of the Boral and Hanson quarries, we have scheduled a webinar for 7pm on Wednesday 24 March 2021.

Every Australian requires roughly 7 tonnes of quarry products and aggregates coming from various stone quarries and sand quarries every year - to build roads, infrastructures, schools and homes. About 110 tonnes of quarry products are used to build a new home on average while 14000 tonnes are required to build a kilometre of a two-lane highway.

The Lysterfield Quarry Community Reference Group (CRG) was formed in April 2016 and has been meeting regularly since. The CRG welcomes new members and encourages all those who live, work or have an interest in the quarry and its vicinity, to join them in their discussions with Hanson, regulators and government representatives.
